Week 8 - full measurement
Weight loss remains constant.
Weight: 240.0 lbs.
Total Lost: 13.8 lb.s
Inches lost at the waist: 3 1/4 inches
This month his waist became smaller than his chest. Can you say V-shaped?
He is definitely a different size. It is pretty exciting. I knew we would do it, but I am so excited because its my DAD. We set a goal for mid January for being 231 lbs. It is exciting because the habits we are creating are not that challenging. I can guarantee this will not rebound. His diastolic blood pressure (this is the pressure when your heart is not pumping) has gone from 91 to 79. This is great because that means there is less pressure in his heart and arteries at rest. Definitely a decrease in cardiovascular risk. His flexibility continues to increase. This is going to allow him to move so much easier and actually may make it possible for him to get into jogging again. He always loved jogging but had to stop because of different pains.
Not all our measurements were perfect. I believe we had a bit of a measurement error on the % body fat. It read about the same as his initial measurement. The problem with bioelectrical impedence is that it depends so much on fluid balance I think the fuild may have been off slightly. We will check it again next month, until then we know we are on the right track without it. It will catch up sooner than later. Another funny outcome in our measurements was the result of the situp test. My father had gone hunting the day before and was very sore in the legs. The situp test I use, requires a little bit of leg activation so he actually did less crunches than last time. I'm sure if I let him try it tomorrow he could have done more. Again we are still in the journey, not the destination. He is getting stronger and his body is changing shape. I mean 3 1/4 inches is great. That's very noticeable in a hug. My little sister (15) gave it a try. She said, "whoa..."
Along with the weight goal we are focusing a lot on cardiovascular fitness for this next round. This is going to help him drop weight fast. Remember 2 pounds a week is the fastest you should lose while still being safe. We are right about there. 8 weeks and about 14 lbs. I have also been changing up the routine a little to challenge his muscles even more. And he has now been introduced to the foam roll, IT band. For those of you who have done it you know how he feels about it. If you haven't done it, you are missing out big time.
One of my favorite thins about this program is seeing him building pride in himself and what he can do. Not that he was ashamed of himself before but he is just that much more confident in himself all around.
It can be quite liberating when you finally realize your the one in charge of the waistline.
I'll see you back here next week. I'll try to get another video together. So you can watch us at work.

Happy December!
We just did my results tracking for month 2. So far I have lost almost 14 pounds (13.8 actually)! I am down over 3 inches in my waist, I feel better and I am told that I look thinner. I spent yesterday in the woods hunting (or hiking with a loaded firearm in my case yesterday), so I was a little apprehensive about the weigh in. But no burger this time – I learned my lesson!
I am looking forward to this upcoming month. I want to continue my weight loss (of course), but I am going to focus on strength and flexibility. I am finding it easier to say no to the wrong foods and, with Jacqui’s excellent cooking, I am really liking the ‘good stuff’. Exercise is something that I do every day. I try not to miss a single day. Now, I may do a shortened workout or just jog a mile or so, but I try to do it EVERY DAY. It has taken me two months to get to this point. Success is building my desire!
Jeremy is adding new items to the routine. Actually, there is a whole new routine. Give the man a ball and a few other items and he really can get you to pant in a hurry. The good news is, with the new exercises, I can go from start to “OK, that’s it!” in a lot fewer reps. These exercises are a lot more intense and I feel them targeting different muscle groups. I can’t wait to see the results over the next several weeks. He really is a very motivating guy – I can see why his clients in Texas miss him.
Thank you all for reading this and supporting me. If you have any questions, just write and I’ll get back to you. To everyone, Merry Christmas and have a happy and prosperous New Year!
